Email Service Provider: Kit (ConvertKit) - convertkit.com/privacy
Analytics Provider: Google Analytics - policies.google.com/privacy

PRIVACY POLICY

Short Version: I collect your email through Kit. I use Google Analytics to see how people use my sites. I don't sell your information. You can unsubscribe from emails anytime and opt out of tracking.

What I Collect

Email Addresses: When you sign up for my newsletter, I collect your email address through Kit's plugin. That's the only personal information I actively gather from you directly.

Website Analytics (Google Analytics): I use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use my sites. This collects:

  • Pages you visit
  • How long you stay on pages
  • What device and browser you use
  • General location (city/region level, not your exact address)
  • How you found my site (search engine, direct link, etc.)

Google Analytics uses cookies—small text files stored on your device—to track this information across visits.

Automatic Server Data: My hosting provider collects standard technical data (IP addresses, browser type, access times). This exists in server logs but I don't actively use it.

What I Do With Your Information

Emails: I send you updates, new content, whatever I'm working on. That's it.

Analytics Data: I use it to see which content people actually read, which pages are broken, and whether anyone gives a shit about what I'm posting. It helps me improve the sites.

I do not:

  • Sell your email or analytics data to anyone
  • Share your information with third parties (except the service providers listed at the top who need it to function)
  • Use your data for advertising or marketing outside my own newsletters
  • Combine your email with your analytics data to track you individually

Cookies

What they are: Small text files websites store on your device to remember information.

What I use:

  • Google Analytics cookies: Track your site usage (described above)
  • Kit cookies: May be used if you interact with email signup forms

How to opt out:

  • Google Analytics: Install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on: tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout
  • All cookies: Use your browser settings to block or delete cookies (note: this may break some website features)

Your Rights

Unsubscribe from emails: Every email has an unsubscribe link. Click it and you're out. Kit handles this automatically.

California Residents (CCPA Rights): You have the right to:

  • Know what personal information I've collected about you
  • Request deletion of your personal information
  • Opt out of any "sale" of personal information (I don't sell information, so this doesn't apply)

To exercise these rights, contact me using the email at the top of this page.

European Residents (GDPR Rights): If you're in the EU/EEA, you have additional rights including:

  • Access to your data
  • Correction of inaccurate data
  • Deletion of your data
  • Restriction of processing
  • Data portability

Contact me using the email at the top of this page to exercise these rights.

Data Retention

Emails: Stored in Kit indefinitely unless you unsubscribe or request deletion.

Analytics: Google Analytics retains data for 26 months by default, then automatically deletes it.

Server Logs: Typically retained for 30-90 days by hosting provider, then deleted.

Third-Party Services

Kit (ConvertKit): Handles email collection, storage, and delivery. Privacy policy: convertkit.com/privacy

Google Analytics: Processes website usage data. Privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy

Web Hosting and Infrastructure: My hosting provider stores website files and server logs. I don't actively access or use this data.

External Links: My sites link to third-party websites. I'm not responsible for their privacy practices. Check their policies before providing information.

Children's Privacy

These sites are not intended for anyone under 18. I don't knowingly collect information from minors. If you're a parent and believe your child provided information to me, contact me using the email at the top and I'll delete it.

Security

I use industry-standard security measures (HTTPS/SSL encryption) to protect data transmission. However, no internet transmission is 100% secure. You use these sites at your own risk.

Changes to Privacy Policy

I'll update the "Last Updated" date at the top when I make changes. Continued use of the sites means you accept the updated policy.

TERMS OF SERVICE

The Deal

By using any site listed at the top of this page, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, leave now.

Acceptable Use

You can:

  • Browse and read content
  • Sign up for newsletters
  • Share links to my content
  • Contact me with questions
  • Purchase services if offered

You cannot:

  • Use sites for illegal purposes
  • Attempt to hack, disrupt, or damage the sites
  • Harass, threaten, or impersonate others
  • Scrape content with bots or automated tools
  • Violate any applicable laws or regulations

Content Disclaimer

Everything here is for informational and entertainment purposes only. Nothing on these sites constitutes:

  • Legal advice
  • Professional counseling
  • Guaranteed outcomes for any parole, reentry, or legal process
  • Medical, financial, or therapeutic guidance
  • Recommendations for specific actions in your situation

My opinions are my opinions. I write from personal experience—seven years incarcerated, time as a correctional officer, work in reentry services. What worked for me or what I've observed may not apply to you.

Do your own research. I provide information and perspective. You need to verify anything important with qualified professionals (attorneys, doctors, licensed counselors, etc.).

You are responsible for your own decisions. I provide information, perspective, and services. What you do with that information is entirely on you. I assume zero liability for actions you take based on content from these sites.

Parole Preparation Services

If you hire me for parole preparation services:

  • I am not an attorney and do not provide legal advice
  • I do not represent you in legal proceedings
  • My services complement your appointed counsel—they don't replace legal representation
  • You remain responsible for all decisions about your case
  • All service terms, deliverables, and refund policies are detailed in separate service agreements
  • Payment does not guarantee any specific outcome

Accuracy of Information

I try to keep information accurate and up-to-date, but:

  • Laws change
  • Policies change
  • My understanding evolves
  • Mistakes happen

No guarantees. Information may be outdated, incomplete, or wrong. Always verify critical information independently.

Third-Party Links and Services

My sites link to external websites and resources. I don't control them and am not responsible for:

  • Their content or accuracy
  • Their privacy practices
  • Their terms of service
  • Any transactions or interactions you have with them

Clicking external links is at your own risk.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, I'm not liable for:

  • Decisions you make based on site content
  • Outcomes of any services you purchase
  • Technical issues (site downtime, data loss, broken links, security breaches)
  • Damages resulting from your use or inability to use the sites
  • Third-party content I link to
  • Any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages

If any court finds me liable despite the above, liability is limited to the amount you paid me (if anything) in the 12 months before the claim.

Some jurisdictions don't allow liability limitations, so parts of this may not apply to you.

Indemnification

You agree to defend and hold me harmless from any claims, damages, or costs (including attorney fees) arising from:

  • Your use of the sites
  • Your violation of these terms
  • Your violation of any laws or third-party rights

Termination

I can terminate or suspend your access to the sites at any time, for any reason, without notice. This includes:

  • Violating these terms
  • Engaging in abusive behavior
  • Any other reason I deem appropriate

Sections that should survive termination (Limitation of Liability, Indemnification, Copyright, etc.) remain in effect.

Modifications

I can update these terms anytime. Continued use of the sites after changes means you accept the updated terms. Major changes will be noted with a new "Last Updated" date at the top of this page.

Entire Agreement

These terms, along with the Privacy Policy and Copyright Notice on this page, constitute the entire agreement between you and me regarding use of these sites.

Severability

If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.

Governing Law and Disputes

Jurisdiction: These terms are governed by California law, without regard to conflict of law principles.

Venue: Any legal disputes must be resolved in state or federal courts located in Santa Clara County, California. You consent to personal jurisdiction there.

Arbitration (Optional): If both parties agree, disputes may be resolved through binding arbitration instead of court.

No Class Actions: Any disputes must be brought individually, not as part of a class action.

ACCESSIBILITY

Commitment

I'm working to make these sites accessible to people with disabilities. This is an ongoing process.

Standards

I aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA standards where feasible as a solo operation.

Current Accessibility Features

These sites include:

  • Text alternatives for images where applicable
  • Readable fonts and color contrast
  • Responsive design for different screen sizes
  • Structured headings for screen readers

Known Limitations

As a solo operation, some accessibility barriers may exist:

  • Not all older content has been updated for accessibility
  • Some third-party embedded content (videos, forms) may not be fully accessible
  • PDFs and downloadable content may have varying accessibility levels

Feedback and Accommodation Requests

If you encounter accessibility barriers: Contact me using the email at the top of this page with:

  • Description of the problem
  • What page/content you were trying to access
  • What assistive technology you're using (if applicable)

I'll respond within 7 business days and work to address the issue or provide the information in an alternative format.

Third-Party Content

Some linked or embedded content (YouTube videos, external websites, etc.) is controlled by third parties. I'm not responsible for their accessibility, but I'll try to choose accessible resources when possible.

No Guarantee

While I'm committed to improving accessibility, I make no legal guarantee that all content meets specific accessibility standards. This is a best-effort approach as a solo independent operation.
